This part of
the book describes a large and extremely important part of plastic surgery.
The operations are sometimes so complicated that they require a medical team
composed of specialists in several different areas. Several of the patients
that illustrate this section were operated on by the author in cooperation
with several other doctors. Since reconstructive surgery is such a broad area
with so many aspects, all that can be presented here is a survey of the areas
in which the reconstructive surgeon works. Those desiring more detailed information
are referred to the excellent technical literature on the subject.
